FAQs

Q) What is biological dentistry?

Biological dentistry stresses the use of non-toxic restoration materials for dental work and focuses on the impact that dental toxins and hidden dental infections have on overall health. Unlike the traditional approach, biological dentistry treats the teeth, jaws, and related structures with the assumption that treatment affects the entire body. Traditional dental treatment moves away from disease. Biological dentistry moves toward health.

Q) What is a TMJ disorder (TMD)?

Your TMJ, or temporomandibular joints, are the joints on either side of your jaw. TMD refers to temporomandibular disorder, which involves problems with the joints, muscles, neurological structures, and vascular structures of the jaw, face, and neck. TMD can cause chronic pain and damage if left untreated. Headaches, jaw pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, and facial pain can all be the result of TMD.

We take TMD very seriously at our Sunnyvale dental office. We believe in using dental care to provide you with complete overall function and health, and we help you overcome chronic pain problems associated with TMD. Many people don’t realize that pain as far away as the lower back can be caused by misalignments and dysfunction in the TMJ, so let us help you discover how better TMJ health can help you experience better total wellness.

Q) What restorative materials do you recommend?

Dr. Langston prefers to avoid the use of metals at our Sunnyvale dental office. He has not placed a mercury amalgam restoration since the early 1980s. Instead, the material of choice is composite resin, which consists of quartz or porcelain particles embedded in a resin matrix. Crowns and bridges are made of ceramic or porcelain substances. In our office, we offer CEREC same-day crowns. Dr. Langston feels that this system is the most accurate for making crowns.

Q) Do you offer any kind of financing?

We understand how important it is that your dental care fit into your budget. That’s why we accept CareCredit. CareCredit offers you various third-party financing options, making your care more affordable and available.
