Amalgam fillings contain significant amounts of mercury. While this has not been proven to cause direct harm to your overall health, many people don’t want to take the risk. That’s why Dr. Langston has exclusively used composite resin fillings at our Sunnyvale dental office for decades. Composite resin fillings are completely mercury-free, making them a healthy alternative to amalgam fillings.

Amalgam Fillings
Silver amalgam fillings are typically large, requiring the removal of healthy tooth structure before placement. Tooth-colored composite resin fillings, in contrast, are a far more conservative option. And silver amalgam fillings usually break their seal with your tooth at some point, leading to leakage and possibly contributing to even more tooth decay as bacteria and debris get underneath the filling. In so many ways, mercury-free dentistry is great for your health.
