Dental Checkups & Cleanings

During these routine appointments, a hygienist will remove plaque and tartar from your mouth (particularly in the areas that your brush and floss can’t reach), and then Dr. Langston will give you an exam. He’ll look at your teeth, gums, airway, bite, jawbone, and more, and he’ll use digital X-rays and intraoral camera images to explain everything he is seeing so you completely understand the state of your oral health.

Nightguards for Bruxism

Bruxism, or unconscious teeth grinding, most often happens while someone is asleep. This can gradually wear down the teeth and dental restorations alike to the point of breaking, but a simple nightguard can prevent this. It is a custom-made mouthguard a patient wears to bed that stops the rows of teeth from touching thanks to a soft but sturdy barrier. It can also relieve chronic headaches connected to teeth grinding as well.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer doesn’t receive as much attention as other types, but in the U.S. alone, about 53,000 people were diagnosed with it last year. The best way to handle the disease is to find it early and treat it quickly, which is why we always perform an oral cancer screening during each checkup. We’ll keep an eye out for any suspicious growths or sores, and if we find anything, we can organize for a biopsy right away.
